The electoral atmosphere in the republic of Ghana as at 6am on Saturday, the 7th of December 2024, is relatively calm amidst mix feeling as to who replaces the current administration after serving its two democratic terms of eight years, to form the next government for the next fours years, representing one democratic term.
Apparently, twelve presidential aspirants and Several parliamentary candidates across Ghana contesting for 275 constituencies, have availed themselves to be elected by Ghanaians to occupied the highest political decision making bodies for ensure the smooth and efficient management of the country’s resources and other administrative responsibilities.
Nonetheless, the fate of these aspirants shall be decided after the electoral polls are closed at about 5pm Ghanaian time, when sorting and counting shall take place for the whole night with subsequent declaration by the Electoral commission of Ghana, not further than 74 hours after the entire process.
The two major political parties, NPP and NDC are the major contenders in today’s polls, however, some other parties, such as Movement for change represented by Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng and an independent candidate called, Nana Kwame Bediako of new force, are expected to pull some surprises in this year’s election.
Few days to the Ghanaian election, some flush points were identified by the electoral commission and security is expected to be high at those places to ensure protection of lives, property and the electoral integrity.
Although, Several pollsters have predicted the reemergence of the former president of the republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and NDC, as the potential president and party to form the new government after today’s polls as against the NPP candidate, being the sitting vice president of the republic of Ghana, the certainty of those predictions, shall be made clear after close to nineteen million Ghanaians cast their ballot today.
Nonetheless, allegations of electoral fraud were reported ahead of the polls with some rigging plans by some institution of state, however, these allegations are yet to be investigated by the police for subsequent prosecution.
