The founder and Executive director of foundation for reconciliation and Democracy (Foredem), Prince Baba Alhassan, has urged stakeholders, critical to the 2024 general election in Ghana, to eschew menace potential to mar the integrity and peace of the country, before, during and after the December 7 polls.

In a press statement issued on the 24th of November, the Executive director expressed the need for free, fair and transparent election, to help retain the integrity of Ghana, as Beacon of democracy in the Sub-Sahara African continent.

Mr. Alhassan maintains that, for the country to come out successful in yet another crucial test of its democracy, there is the need for stakeholders to be law abiding and ensure due process as stipulated by laws, governing election in the country.

He has suggested that, obstructive agents during elections such as; Misinformation, disinformation, intimidation and Manipulation must be avoided to help enhance the country’s peace and ensure due process.

Mr. Alhassan urged the Electoral commission as well as security personnel who would be assigned to various stations to ensure sense of responsibility, patriotism and integrity.

“I implore our nation’s guardians, Security Agencies, Electoral Commission, The Judiciary, Media, and Civil Society Organizations – to uphold their responsibility to protect the peace and security of our beloved nation”.

He tasked the media, bloggers and various political fanatics, interested in relaying information, to do fact-check on information that would be in circulation during the exercise, as many of such information are potential chaos, due to large number of irregularities that are likely to be contained in them.

“Together, we can build a resilient democracy that reflects the will of the people” he stressed.

Nonetheless, Ghana would be going for polls on Saturday the 7th of December 2024 to elect a president and 275 members of parliament across 275 constituency in 16 regions in the country. A total of about 18,774,159. This is a 10.25% increment compared to the 17,027,641 registered voters in the 2020 election are expected to cast their ballot on 12 presidential candidates.. Ghanaians are expected to exercise their franchise as part of the civic responsibilities.
