The former president of the republic of Ghana and flagbearer of the national democratic congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, as part of his commitment to revamp the Islamic Education unit and bridge academic gap between various faith in the country, has made a donation of another car to the Islamic education unit of the Ghana Education service in Tamale.

This gesture forms part of his 2024 Manifesto pledge to various Muslim communities in the country to ensure universal quality and accessible formal Education for all.
Mr. Mahama earlier made similar donation to the Zakat and Sadaqa trust fund in a ceremony organized in Accra on Sunday morning which saw the presence of His eminence the national chief Imam of the republic of Ghana, sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubtu, the Imam of the Ahlu Sunnah Wal-jama’a, Sheikh Umar Ibrahim, and other high profiled Muslim scholars across region.
Over the years, the Islamic unit of the Ghana Education service has been battling with logistic deficit, thereby making operations of the unit, regarding monitoring and evaluation, and other needed activities difficult.
The next John Dramani Mahama administration after the donation of the car, pledged to build a working rapport between his administration and the unit, to ensure adequate logistics and sufficient budget to keep the unit running.
The General Manager of the Islamic Education Unit Mr Abdul Karim Bapuni. received the keys to the vehicle and thanked Mr Mahama for coming to their aid.
Nonetheless, the Islamic Education Unit was an initiative of the PNDC/NDC to ensure the integration of Arabic and Islamic studies in the curriculum of the basic and Senior High Schools in Ghana.
