The chairperson of the electoral commission, Madam Jean Mensah and the commission, have asked political parties and electoral stakeholders in and across Ghana, to work with the commission to help uphold the and strengthen the integrity of the the electoral systems.
Addressing IPAC and other relevant stakeholders on Friday during the commissions’ pre balloting press briefing, Madam jean said, the doors of the commission remains open and that they assure stakeholders the commission is willing to accept constructive feed back and advise. According to the commissioner, the daily feed back and advise received from stakeholders, has helped to enrich the work of the commission and helps the commission to serve Ghanaians better.
The commissioner has indicated that, some 13 applicant were cleared after thorough vetting of their filing documents according to the law, as such the commission wished every candidate well through out the electoral process.
She however mentioned that, applicant who could not make it to the last list after vetting, will have their filing fees refunded. whiles whishing them better luck in their next electoral calendar.
The chairperson of the commission urged all candidates to engage in a decent campaign, Campaign based on policies and programs that will lead to the collective well being of the masses and the society.

According to the commissioner, the commission’s role is to referee the electoral process, as such they have no power to determine who becomes the president of the republic or otherwise. stressing that, the electorate have the sole mandate of choosing who becomes their president, the role of the commission is only to spearhead a free, fair and transparent process that would reflect the core will of the electorates.
“As referees, our role is simply to arrange and organize orderly, free and fair and transparent and credible election. We assure you that, we are working towards just that” she added;
” We as a commission do not have the power to determine who wins election. It is not in our control to determine the outcome of the election. The power indeed lies with the good people of our their country. It is only the citizens and the citizens alone, who can determine who should lead them, not the electoral commission”.
The commissioner insisted that, candidates who elect to lead the people are chosen by the people who will be declared by the commission as the president elect of the republic of Ghana come 7th December 2024.
” to the aspiring candidates who could not make it this time, we wish you better luck next time, your filing fee will be refunded to you” she hinted.
Meanwhile, the PNC, PPP, and other independent candidates aspiring to high seat of presidency for 2024, were disqualified on the grounds of law according to the commission.
Nonetheless, the aspiring flagbearer for PNC Bernard Monarh, has vowed to use legal means to challenge errors by the commission that led to his party’s disqualification.
Ironically, popular political ” comical” and leader of Ghana freedom party (GFP) Maame Akua Donkor, and others were cleared along NDC and NPP to contest for this year’s presidential race for 2024-2025 electoral calendar.
Regardless, the chairperson insist , the commission will conduct itself in truth and integrity and organize free, fair, credible and transparent elections come December 7th 2024
” We will not let you down. on your part, we charge you to uphold and defend the good name Ghana and the institutions” she lobbied.
