Greater Accra regional hospital has detained the corpse a young Muslim brother who has died in the facility weeks after failed treatment, for inability by the family to pay medical debt of 1.1 billion.
late Sita Ibrahim was hospitalized several weeks after he suffered a pillar crush at a construction site where he worked as a pillar artisan. the incident caused him his life after he was sent to the regional hospital to receive treatment.
According to the relative’s narration, during his stay at the facility, the family and well wishers had spent thousands of cedi to help in his speedy recovery. However, time had taken its course on their relative and now, they are financially exhausted to foot the final bill of 1.1 billion old currency the facility is requiring from them, before his remain is released for burial.
Late Sita was resident of Jeddah in the GA west municipal assembly. He hailed from the Ashanti region of Ghana to seek greener pasture in the greater Accra region and met his timely demised.
The Imam of Jeddah, Sheikh Abdul Basit, together with some elders of the Muslim community of Jeddah and relatives, appeals for support to enable extricate the remains of their Muslim brother for burial.
According to the Islamic law, the procession and subsequent burial of deceased must take place immediately he or she is confirmed dead, unless otherwise. However, late Sita Ibrahim, may not be able to honor such religious quest until one billion is paid on his head.
