Winning Kasoa seat should not be a problem for the NDC if the party works in unity and shares collective strategy. chairman cries out.
Dean of Chairmen for central regional NDC and constituency chairman for Awutu senya east, Stephen Ofosu Agyare expresses worry over trend of events under his watch, where party structure works in conflict with each other ahead of 2024 general election.
speaking with heritage news online, the chairman bemoans how the party is struggling to unite its front for a formidable team to win back seat the party has been wrestling towards since 2012, due to activities of some self seeking within the party.
According to him, he sees no reason why a candidate the entire party structure is working to win seat for, will mount a parallel campaign team to conflict with the existing structure. Also, no point holding an executive position without working in the interest of the party.
He believes the party must have a common sense of focus built around unity, social cohesion and trust. such that, they party can remain resolute ahead of its vision and mission towards winning the kasoa seat, whiles appreciating vote for the 2024 presidential candidate Mr. john Dramani Mahama.
heritage news survey also confirms that, since 2012, voting trend in kaosa has been shrouded with inconsistency. where electorates of Ndc vote in the famous “skirt and blouse”, hence, vote for the NDC presidential candidate increases whiles that of the parliamentary decreases.
This has given the current member of parliament for ASEC mavis Hawa Koomson, candidate for the ruling new patriotic party, the upper hand over NDC. She has been the member of parliament for the constituency since 2012.
from 2012 the vote differentials between these two parties was about ten thousand (10 thousand).
however, in 2020, when a new candidate was introduced, the vote difference for 2020 was reduced drastically from ten thousand to five thousand according to the existing record. barring all allegations.
The party was formidable and united for purpose in 2020, however, immediately after the election, the party was struggling to find its feet for unity ahead of next election.
Blames and counter blames were recorded with allegations of bribery collection alleged on some executives of the party.
Although some internal reconciliation was done after 2024 internal primaries, issue of trust in the party is still in limbo, as the elected parliamentary candidate is still bent on working with her team she believes she can trust as against the party existing structure.
Hundreds of party sympathizers and branch executives believe the current state of the party at the constituency level cannot wrestle seat from the current member of parliament due to division and conflict of interest at play in all cores of the party structure.
It is still as shock as to why the parliamentary candidate is still adamant on integrating her team members with that of the constituency to help work together to win the seat.
Our research also disclosed that, the level of coordination at the constituency level is becoming a problem as executives work differently and separately without any substantive lay down strategy or procedure to move to the core of the party.
Resource allocation has also become a concern of many executive members from branch up to the constituency level, this, has impede party activities in most branches and wards of the party.
Most wards and branches barely seat for meetings and where meetings are sometimes held in some branches and wards, ends up in feud.
However, chairman Agyare has assured that, the party at the constituency level is working to resolve all impasses and he is certain the party will grow stronger to wrestle the seat from the current member of parliament to help rebuild kasoa to a deserving structure and state.
” An order has come from the region for us to constitute a campaign team and working committees. so am sure with that directives, we shall make sure we coordinate all campaigns and build a united front for victory”
” If in the past everyone is doing his own thing, that was because there was no directives from the top structure. but now that we have the directives, we shall make sure everyone comply with the directives” he stated.
Meanwhile, state of development in kasoa calls for change, however, whether the opposition parties are ready to meet up with the challenge, heritage news is still following trend to bring you up to speed, the happenings in the region.
security, roads and other infrastructure in the constituency are in dire need of attention, however, the common inducement heritage news deduced was that, people’s power are exchanged with ” soft loans and other material benefits which allegedly is being giving by the member of parliament for the constituency”.
Various market women and individuals in poverty class, are routine for the member of parliament because of her routine financial and material gestures towards them.
