Former deputy national organizer of the largest ghanaians opposition party, Mahdi Jibril has seconded the request for the great NDC party to reconsider its stance on the wife of the late founder of the party, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, for her to be reconciled into the party since her exit years back.
Mrs Rawlings parted ways with her husband’s party after expressing series of concerns over what she believed is not tallying with the core objectives of the founding fathers thoughts, as well as show of disregard to the rawlings’s by some members of the party.
She formed her own party, the national democratic party( NDP) after she was embarrassingly defeated by the late john Evans Atta mills, during their internal party contest to choose flag bearer for 2008 general election.
Mrs Rawlings has since been an opposition to the party that once gave her public glory and prestige over her fellow women.
Her incessant attack on the credibility and competence of the national democratic congress caused the party lot of political fortunes, as her exit led to the exit of several party loyalist who rallied behind her newly formed national democratic party ( NDP), While others rejoined the new patriotic party.
It is unclear where the loyalty of Nana Konadu is, after she has been witnessed on several counts, sympathizing with the new patrotic party and Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo. But recent development around the waves, indicate that, her daughter and member of parliament for Korle Klortey, Dr. Zenator Rawlings, has been fervently campaigning for the come back of her mother to the national democratic congress (NDC).
Mahdi Jibril writes on his facebook page;
”Zenator’s call for bringing Konadu back to the party a positive call and the time is now. I know the move to bring her back will be meant with some few opposition probably for personal scores, but for the larger interest and generally good of the party I welcome it 100%”
He added that, there has been precedents in the party on similar case and that has not brought the party to its knee.
”Yes she was not expel or sacked from the party same as Goosie Tanoh and Dr. Obed Asamoah who also left the party at a crucial time to formed their political Parties but it took lobby and negotiations to bring them back to the party after we won power in 2008”.
he said the party can do it without her or anybody but political parties will always need anybody to do it at a particular point in time.
adding that, there must always be discipline but emotions must not lead judgement.
He urged the party to reconsider based on where the proposal is coming from. thus, Dr. Zenator, for her selflessness to the party.
