“another opportunity has come for we in the legal fraternity to revise our legal documents and get enlightened by some dynamics that would emanate from the 2020 election petition, especially first year students of law faculties” law lecturer at GIMPA Dr. Kweku Agyeman Badu hinted.

On zoom interview with GTV during the 2nd pre-hearing of the 2020 election petition, the renowned law lecturer admonished constitutional lawyers and for that matter first year law students to take opportunity in, yet another land-mark proceedings that deepens our democracy and help to bring reforms to our legal and constitutional system.

“ this is process is a matter of the constitution and as first year students we normally teach them constitutional law, so it will be of immense help to them it they take every aspect of the process serious” he said.

For legal students at the GIMPA School of law, this may seem as information to them, as the law lecturer hinted that lecturers may decide to illicit questions from the land-mark proceedings as their compulsory questions during examination. He therefore entreats all legal students to take note of the process.

Meanwhile, after 42 days of proceedings, the constituted panel of judges on the supreme court bench are expected to come out with their verdict as to whether the current president has attained the beyond mark of %50.1 as stipulated by law or there will be a run-off as suggested by petitioners In their petition to the apex court of the land.

Nonetheless, the early application by petitioners to be granted leave for interrogatory against 1st respondent during the 2nd pre-hearing, has been unanimously denied by the 7 member panel of judges presided over by the chief justice of Ghana, Justice Annan.  

Summary of their claims stipulated that, the request by the petitioners was founded from the CI 47 which was valid during the 2013 election petition and has since seen an amendment with the current CI for 2020 elections.

Case management aspect of the proceedings is expected to continue as proceedings adjourned to Wednesday morning at 9:30 local time.
