The cloud which gathered around eve of sunset in most parts of the country has eventually left many with sleeplessness, as the heavy down pour flooded and entered into several houses in and around the Neighborhood.
Annual heavy down pour has always left residents of Akweley newtown and cross river in a state of confusion, as they always record massive flood which periodically displace many of the residence in the community.
Thursday night’s heavy pour was not exceptional, as people had to evacuate their houses to pave way for the settled water into their rooms. A property counting several thousands of Ghana cedi were flooded, but as the time of filing the report, there was no live lose nor any fatality recorded.
People of Akweley, in the Awutu Senya east municipal assembly have been battling with poor drainage system and bad layout, resulting from unwarranted sales of lands in the community and its environ. This situation accounted for yearly displacement of goods and people.
Residents have said they petitioned the assembly and the Member of Parliament for the area, honorable madam Hawa Koomson, for several years, yet little has been done to curtail the annual damage of their properties. Meanwhile, the MP for the area is the minister for special initiative; yet, her constituent continues to linger in abject pain and devastating occupancy in the electoral constituency.
Communities such as, weija, Obuom dome-abra and parts of Nyanyano and its environ, were all not let behind in the ‘damage’ resulting from the heavy down pour.
