GOOSIE TANO STRIPS NDC NAKED
Presidential candidate hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Professor Goosie Tanoh, lashes erstwhile administration of NDC for varying from core principles of probity and accountability, foundation upon which the party was formed in 1992. According to him, that is what made Ghanaians lost appetite for the party and reduced performance of party from presidential victory of 58.2% in 1993 to 44.40% in 2016.
Speaking at his last campaign trail for Greater Accra, Professor Goosie Tanoh stressed that the history of the NDC has always been a party noted for probity, accountability and social justice. How ever, event of time has revealed some unscrupulous executives of the party who have a raised appetite for corruption and ego, resulting in a mess the party is currently bedeviled with.
According to him, NDC, unlike the elephants, believe in equal access. Meaning, the party is for that ordinary farmer from Ningo- Prampram, the fisherman at La and the teacher at Kinbu and so their children can also become presidents.
In his effort to lure delegates to consider his presidential ambition, Goosie Tanoh disclosed his tireless effort during the 1996 -2004 to make the grassroots of the party relevant throughout, instead of keeping the branch executives for election purposes, a situations which according to him led the party into its current mess. He believes the party over the years has detached itself from the grassroots who actually formed the basis of the party. He added that the embarrassing performance of NDC over the years was because of corruption and egocentrism of some executives of the party. Goosie reiterated that the branch of the party could be integrated into national development and into any form of decision making in the interest of the party and the nation at large.
He further explained why he broke away in 2000 to form the Reform Party, popularly known as ‘Domestication’. He argued that the attitude of some members of the party pushed him to form another party because, being a foot soldier of NDC, he was nurtured to speak the truth and stand by the truth even at the peak of his life. He however accepted to reunite with his mother party because the late president John Evans Atta Mills persuaded him into giving up because his party could pose threat to chances of NDC at his time as presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Prof. reminded delegates of Greater Accra to remain resolute and not to fall for any form of intimidations emanating from other camps, because no one can influence their decision of choice. He alleged some members of other camps were threatening lives of delegates if they failed to give hundred percent endorsements to certain candidate, but he will advise them not to fall for that threat because it is vague.
He urged delegates to vote for him on the 23rd of February to hold the flag of the party to victory. He promised them of reforms in the party and drastic reforms in the economy of the country. He said his priority would be infrastructural development, adding value to raw resources to create jobs, social justice, among others.
